Casa del Cortejo

One of the oldest of the Centro Historico’s surviving gems, this three bedroom and three and a half bathroom lovingly preserved Casa was built in 1692 and boasts 14-foot beamed ceilings, cantera fireplaces, original arches and columns and two terraces with views. Restored by famed architectural designer Marcia Brown, Casa del Cortejo features exquisite custom tile in its kitchen and baths.

Enter the home through a dramatic and beautifully stenciled covered arched corridor into a central patio with cantera fountain, walls covered in foliage and a comfortable outdoor/indoor living room with a cantera fireplace. This area is perfect for entertaining guests.

The living room area, which can be easily converted into a LR/DR area has a high beamed ceiling and a cantera fireplace. The window to the street has a sitting area where courtships would take place during colonial times, this giving this magnificent home its name.

The kitchen is fashioned in the traditional hacienda style with colorful local mosaic tiles. The pantry, half bathroom and laundry area are also on this level and accessed shortly before one goes up the stairs to the bedrooms.
