Casa Tres Campanas succeeds in creating a space which accommodates the comfort and luxury that few contemporary homes provide, as well as safekeeping the elements which make up the colonial architecture that characterizes this historic town. Located in the gated community of Vista Antigua, which is only a few short minutes off of Centro, you will have the assurance of having the full San Miguel experience.
Upon entering the front courtyard, you will be greeted by an amiable exterior space which is composed of a cozy terrace with a unique fire table, a small pathway leading up to a charming sculpture, direct access to the garage which has space for two large cars, and, of course, a welcoming entrance to the main house.
Once inside, the main floor’s high ceilings and open layout communicates the kitchen, dining area, and living room, which are arranged so that the view into San Miguel is most appreciated. And what a view it is; from it you may be delighted by the sight of the hot air balloons which hover over the colonial city during the early hours of the morning, and still, at a greater distance you may appreciate the natural landscape as your eyes get lost in the dazzling Picacho ridges. This fantastic view is created by large windows which open this space into an exterior corridor and terrace which serves as an alternative dining area with its own handsome fireplaces. A constant that must be mentioned right away is how this house alludes to the traditional Mexican home by its use of fireplaces in the social spaces of the house, as well as in the rooms. This use of harnessed fire as a from of “bringing together” is accomplished spectacularly well throughout the house. This is certainly true of the Master Bedroom, which also has an eye catching fireplaces, as well as an exquisite view to all of the city’s churches, a graceful bóveda brick ceiling, a galant walk-in closet, and a bathroom which is fitted with bewitching copper sinks and soaking tub. Furthermore, you can have direct access into the house through the garage which has track lighting, a fan, and is structurally configured for a future project such as an office or casita to be built on top of it. There are convenient stairs for the gardener out the back of the garage to the lower level and the upper level. The corridor which connects these two spaces may also lead you into the service room which is fitted to house both a washer and dryer; there you will also find the water pressurizer system, as well as the water filtration system which works with UV ray, bacteria treatment, and calcium control.
The ground floor, which is accessed by means of stairs that are right by the living room of the main floor, takes you into a comfortable and spacious entertainment room with yet another fireplace, and which can be arranged to become a tv room, a game room or even a library. This space opens to a handsome exterior area that includes a Bocceball Court, a twelve-person jacuzzi, and a covered terrace. This space is bordered by natural elements such as a lemon, avocado, orange and pomegranate trees, as well as dusk-till-dawn lighting. From this ground level you may access the two other rooms of the house, one of which has an en-suite bathroom, and the other with a full bathroom that is shared with the entertainment room.
The third floor of the house is presently being used as a studio, yet it could easily be made into a separate casita. It has a studio/bedroom and a full bathroom. One of the most outstanding features of the house is found on this floor. A terrace overlooking the colonial city and distant ridges provides the most fascinating view of the entire home; furthermore, this alluring space is perfect for enjoying Tai Chi or Yoga while drinking your favorite coffee during the morning hours or a spectacular sunset and a glass of whine during the evening. This entire space can be accessed privately through the garage in a side stairway.
